[Rhodes22-list] Another rudder downhaul question

As noted in a previous post I had a fouling problem with the rudder downhaul
. Stan had tried to prevent the problem by putting a small cross piece at
the bottom of the rudder housing to prevent jamming of the ropes.
Upon inspection I found that that piece was in fact positioned too far aft
and was knocked off by the action of lowering the rudder.. What seems odd is
that with the rudder lines run in the inside of the assembly, 2 things
happen. One.. the rudder in fact is stopped by the housing but if the lines
are positioned properly , then the lines are pinched between the housing
stop and the rudder itself.. 2 it is subject to pinching at the side of the
rudder without that modification of Stans'
Is this rigged properly or can the downhaul lines be rigged
outside the entire assembly without fouling anything, ? I know it would need
some kind of guide, but it seems a better approach.. Would there be any
issues such as prop fouling with a slack line ?? I thought running the lines
in front of the assembly ( on either side of the pivots, and capping that,
would eliminate any fouling problems..
                                              Comment requested ..
                                                    Rory
