[Rhodes22-list] Boom Room and Bimini arch

Peter,

I think I am reading you. Have you seen the picture I posted?

The main structural members to the BR are 6' SS tubes, oriented bow to stern and parallel to the boom. To stow them like I think you want, you would simply unlatch the center cross brace(s) and roll the BR top from the left and then from the right and tie them to the boom.

If you then decided to raise the main, untie and lift the cloth wrapped poles off the boom and go for it. They stow compactly and easily on the V berth, or under the seats in its cover, keeping it clean.

I'd say the 'rolled' cloth and poles unit is 6 1/2' long and 4"-5" diameter, rather small. I sail my boat frequently without touching the top frame/shade. With a shaded area of 6' length and 5' +- width you can be very comfortable. In this config you would sail under Genny, no main, which works like a dream with a 175.

If you want further blockage of UV, attach the 'up-sun' side curtain, roll it down just far enough, and you should be in business. The partially deployed side shade will not swing side to side and hit you in the head, by the way.

Putting it up you would put it along the boom, onroll to each side and snap the cross brace(s) in place. The side curtains would attach as you wish after the top is up, as they would be stored in a small bag.

Remember that having detached sides is a very flexible design feature - lots of options. I, too, avoid UV.

Your feedback is really helpful, and some units could be customized. This BR, like the boat, is not cookie cutter oriented.
