That's really neat, I'd never tried that!  For any member of the  board, it's 
easy to try.  Be sure you have a flat bottom cup or   glass, just tear open a 
bag of tea leaves, stir the cup and watch.  You can  actually see the bits of 
tea (tea bag have shredded tea not whole leaves, so you  can really see how 
the water is transporting the bits) sucked into the center at  the bottom.  You 
can see the currents are varied at different depths.
