[Rhodes22-list] Dave's Sojourn to Edenton

Dave,

Just want to second Russ's comment on Watermans. You can walk across the
street to the public park and old waterfront area. Taking Stan and Rose to
dinner there would be a very nice gesture.

All y'all are most helpful. I'll definitely stay at the GBI barracks and
have confirmed with Stan. Not sure if I'll be there on Wed. or Thursday.
Probably Wed.

I'll drive down I think -- cheaper and not all that much slower than flying
once you factor in driving to LaGuardia, delays at LaGuardia, renting a car
in Raleigh, etc., etc. Last I looked at routes, and recalling the exchange
from a couple of months ago, I think I'll head down I-95 and the Jersey
Turnpike and then take the eastern route down the Maryland Eastern Shore and
come in above Edenton. Alternate is to stay on 95 to Norfolk then head
down. Will see how the weather and timing work out.

My purpose on this trip is to finalize specs for "Sea Cloud" and better
understand interior options. And to give Stan a break from my many
e-mails. ("Sea Cloud" beat out "Severance"...) I'll ask about LED lights
as an alternative, boom rooms, etc. I'll send a separate note summarizing
the boom room requirements for the interested buying group.

In response to other questions, we did select the fully enclosed head with
pump out but no macerator. I opted to add no new holes to the boat, so
passing for now on pumps, depth sounders, etc. until I've had a chance to
live with the boat. Will put a compass in the companionway or mount it on a
rail, and use a hand-held depth finder for now. I'm all for gadgets, but
just want to get a better feel for what I'll use and where I'll best use it.

I will drive down again in March with my family, as my daughter has time off
for spring break, to do a shake down cruise, take care of any last minute
fixes, and bring her home to CT. At that point, will probably make good use
of your kind recommendations on motels in the area.

Thanks to all on the list who make buying and anticipating owning a Rhodes
so much fun.

Best regards,

Dave Bradley
