Rory,
Msst of use stainless steel cotter rings. Some use pigtail others
flat. Some cover with riggers tape or electrical tape. Captain Rummy and I
use pvc pipes that cover the turnbuckles completely. Recently both Captain
Rummy and I posted pictures and discussed how we do it.
I believe it was Captain Rummy who experienced a stolen ring a few
years ago. So a quick inspection of all rings before any sailing should be
in order. Also a quick extension and retraction of all sails insures safe
operation.
Do you own a digital camera? If not a cheap one that will suffice
costs about $100.00. We are looking for your pictures.
     Congratulations and best of sails.
