Touché!  That block is made of...UMPWUMP...?
It looks like you screwed the cleat to the UMPWUMP and you have screws out
to the side.  Is there some kind of backing inside the boom?

I want the cleats to be mounted closer to the mast.  If you're reefing in or
out when you're on a beam or broad reach and the end of the boom is out of
reach, you can stand in the cockpit or companionway and adjust the sail.
