[Rhodes22-list] Water tank repair

Lou - While I haven't repaired a tank on a boat, my experience has been that
if you do not have enough flat surface to install flanges with gaskets
connecting to a new nipple on the exterior, the tank is not repairable. The
connections on these tanks tend to be near corners or edges on square tanks,
thus not offering the opportunity for a mechanical repair. I assume the
material is food grade PP. You might get through a season using a full
bodied adhesive such as an epoxy or polyurethane, but over time it will lose
the chemical bond, but you could re-do it periodically. Chemical or heat
welding is going to be tough.
My answer is based on work on tanks used in plumbing installations in the
construction industry, restaurants, etc. Flanges and gaskets would come from
the tank manufacturer or platic piping manufacturer, and to my knowledge are
not retail items and need to be ordered through parts/plumbing supply house.

Good luck!
