Saroj,

I had a boxer dog that was bitten by a brown recluse
and he developed a softball size tumor on his side as
a result. When it 'popped' the vet used a rubber
splint to hold his sides together until the wound
healed. "Malabar" was left with a spot about the size
of a quarter where hair wouldn't grow after about
three months. My 'then wife' was bitten by a brown
recluse a few months later and put ice on the bite
area immediately. That seems to be the key, ICE the
bite as quickly as possible. We lived in an old
farmhouse at the time that was a haven for spyders.
They like damp areas and especially clothing left
lying around. I've been a bit paranoid about them
ever since and have my house 'nuked' every year. Not
the most environmentially sensitive approach to the
threat but once you've seen the damage, you operate
in accordance.
