Ahoy fellow Rhode's fleet owners!

Rummy,

Congrats on your new Bantam! There are a few differences in the FG and 
wooden versions. There are also a few differences between wooden versions 
due to the many kit boats made. The wooden boat has slightly harder chines 
and a much heavier CB. I think my Bantam CB weighs almost as much as my R22 
CB. Most of the wooden boats did not have spreaders. In the 60s the mast 
switched from wood to aluminum (I think) and some of the masts had spreaders 
and some did not.

Years ago I exchanged emails with the former President of some type of 
Bantam Association. In the 60s there were many racing fleets. I think FG 
production started around 1966. My 65 (pic attached) has wooden boom with 
the newer mast with speaders.

Like any Rhodes the Bantam sails great. I used to sail FJs and the Bantam is 
by far the better sailing dinghy. The hard chines make for a very stable 
boat.

Your Bantam looks great. Have you considered adding floatation? I have never 
flipped my Bantam but it is a concern. I have thought about adding some 
floatation bags.
