A random thought: The mechanical integrity of the OB cowling and it's  
attachment to the  OB is another issue you may want to assess as you  look at OBs.  
That cowling has to be strong enough to accommodate steering  forces from the 
General Boats tiller/OB steering  linkage, if you intend to  use that linkage. 
 You may not intend to use that linkage, but I find it  helps maneuvering in 
constrained spaces (marinas).  If a cowling flexes,  isn't durable (plastic 
and/or flimsy design), etc, you could have a  problem with the steering linkage.
