I'm with Slim on this one.

Job # 1 is to develop a plan to deal with our (to my way of
thinking) out-of-control national debt.

Job # 2 is to put together a workable plan to end the Iraq
mess gracefully.

Those are the easy ones.

With this in hand, having identified some of our major cash
flow parameters, we need to tackle the more difficult task
of determining how much public money we (as a nation) will
invest in an individual person's health before we let them
die.

This issue will occupy us as a forground/background coda
for the next century, if our grand democratic experiment
lives that long.

And the life of our nation is more threatened by what I'll
call "Rummy's Thesis" than by outside powers. We are more
likely to be destroyed by termite-like internal decay as
our populace votes itself ever-increasing goodies.

Pax vobiscum,
/Robert Skinner
