Bill,
I'm getting to be the same way...after four years out of the classroom the terms don't fly readily to the forefront.

The book that I would recommend for clarity, ease of use, and short pieces that don't overwhelm is Warriner's English Grammar....I'm quite certain that you used this in high school & most likely taught from it.

I'd suggest something in the 9th grade level & then a senior or advanced level. The advanced level will refer to topics that would be covered more fully in the lower grade. I'm not sure where you can find it..maybe on Amazon? I had the entire series that i'd 'collected!" over the years & taught from even though grammar was 'verboten.

'Educators' are some of the most dense people...maybe if we went back to being 'teachers' common sense could slide back in......

  I only sort-of knew it.

I, too, used to teach grammar, but I've forgotten a lot of why what I
know to be correct, is in fact correct.

What grammar books would you suggest for adults who care about grammar
but don't exactly remember the basis for their choice of words?
