[Rhodes22-list] Two issues (boat-related)

1. The place I have my boat at now has a smaller launch than the last one
did. The launch rub rail (depending on loading) is sometimes below the rub
rail on the boat, and can ride under the hull flare. The launch fenders
thus do not provide much protection.

The only solution I have come up with is to keep fenders hanging out on my
boat in port at all times or figure out a way to deploy them from the
launch. Either the "L" shaped bass boat style or round balls might work
well to protect the vulnerable area.

Anyone have a better idea? I think having fenders out all the time would
look ugly, and provide temptation to steal.

2. Next question: I have been using the rudder blade "uphaul" (for lack of
a better word) tied to the stern rail as back up to keep the raised rudder
from swinging and hitting the raised outboard. It seemed to me I saw Elton
do this, but maybe I am wrong. The tiller line came free and the edge of
the rudder cam cleat bracket sawed through the line. Temporarily fixed
with a bowline until I haul within the next few weeks. Does anyone have a
good low-cost solution to this? The broom clip-hiking stick solution never
really worked for me, even before I replaced my hiking stick with a thicker
one.

Thanks
