[Rhodes22-list] cons of rhodes 22

Brad and Erly,

Trucking company *executive* ...... ha ha ha, I like that!!

Yep, I did tow our Rhodes with an S-10. But, it was the HD 4x4 version
with a V-6 and was rated for something like 5500 lbs IIRC. It did a fine
job. Being a "trucking company executive" though, I may have more
realistic expectations about pulling a load than most people. For
instance, I don't expect to pull a load up a small mountain without
downshifting, as many folks I talk to do. That being said, we towed our
R-22 to Kentucky Lake, 875 miles one way, from Minnesota, twice and
never had a problem. I will say that the R-22 was probably at the upper
limit of this trucks capabilities though. I think the most important
consideration in this whole deal is trailer brakes. Stopping is the
biggest problem ..... not going, assuming of course, you've got your
boat loaded properly on the trailer.

I haven't read this whole thread and haven't seen how far Erly plans to
tow. If it's more than just a few miles, I think he surely needs a
bigger car/truck than he has now. A 1/2 ton pickup is a real nice match
for an R-22, but I think the Tahoes, Denalis and other suvs do fine if
you need more passenger room than a pickup has to offer.

Happy towing
Rik
