Rob,

This is how it could go:

day 1. travel/rigging

day 2. Blackbeard Sailing Club, New Bern to Oriental, NC (23 miles down
the Neuse River). Good restaurants and pedestrian friendly places in ONC.
(Subtract day1 and start here if you choose to start at the NC Wildlife
ramps in ONC.) Most people driving in would probably want to start in ONC
to save a day.

day 3. the trip to Ocracoke. About 8-10 hours to cross the Pamilco Sound.
Alternately, there are many places to gunkhole on the western side north or
south shores of the Neuse.

day 4. Silver Lake, Ocracoke Island, Outer Banks, NC. Big pond dug out
by Army COE long ago. 10' draft about 1500' across. The marina there
would have off-season rates. I think I paid $40-50/night in 2005. It would
be a nice idea to spend at least 24-36 hours on Ocracoke Island. Many
artists have move there in the last 25 years, the are lots of good
restaurants and the Atlantic ocean shoreline is walking distance.

day 5 the trip west back to launching area and across the Pamlico.

day 6 rigging/travel

It's best while cruising to stay flexible, watch the weather and allow a
little more time.

Rob -- you can do this trip and won't regret it if you do.

PT
