Dan,
Portable electronics, VHF, GPS, etc. should work well short term, maybe long term also.  I agree with Mary Lou on the frills, however sensible they will seem.  Get your feet on the water first.  You may be wise to experience the pop top enclosure, given the pop top is a major plus feature you will want to use.  If you want, I have an extra PTE available, good condition.  At a later point I'd be willing to apply it as a trade-in toward a PTE or Boom Room at a later date if that makes sense to you.  The object at this point is get you underway with best option suggestions, you have had many, and at the lowest dollar outlay.  You are going to love this boat!
