Dan,
You will love the boat.
You are on a tight budget. This boat is a great investment.
Forget about the captain chairs....you will enjoy the cockpit cushions much
better. Keep it simple for now.
I agree, you need the hatches you choose to be done at General Boats while 
they can
do it correctly. But, I gotta tell ya, handheld GPS and VHF are just fine 
for now.
Remember, the best thing about sailing is that you have independence and 
this
boat gives you that and assurance with its intrinsic safety.
Keep it simple. Seems to me in your first note that you were going for way 
too far from your budget.
This boat is just fabulous on its own. You can add each year and this gives 
you such joy every year.
