i haven't had to use it yet. i just figured the distance from the lowest point in the bilge, leaning out over the hatch ledge, to over the side. maybe i should try it out.
  p.s. are you aware of the sighting technique used by the osprey in its dive on prey? (talk about non-sailing subject matter.)

The tube is just long enough to get over the transom. But once you 
start pumping, the thrust of the exiting water pushes the tube back 
into the lazz. I don't have enough hands to hold the pump down, hold 
the tube out, AND work the pump handle. But replacing it with a 6' 
hose from an old shop vac gave it plenty of reach for two-handed operation.
