[Rhodes22-list] Cockpit cushions Re: Buying a Rhodes

Yes, I have IMF and I haven't had a sailmaker look at it yet. Still waiting to hear from insurance if they'll replace it (long story dating back to hurricaine in 2005). The rip is at the junction of sail with colored triangular section that stays outside of the mast. As the boat is in the water and I have no trailer, getting up there would take a bit of maneuvering that I doubt any sane person would volunteer for.
Thanks for the info.

  Alice,

Assuming you have IMF, yes, the mast must come down to get the main sail
out. The whole roller assembly, sail and all slide out the bottom of the
mast. The tricky part is disconnecting the boom and threading the furling
line back in when reassembling. This can be a bit daunting unless you have
confidence in your mechanical ability as well as an additional helper.
Otherwise, you can take the whole mast to the loft and let them do it. A
third option, which would depend on the severity of the rip, is to repair it
without removing it from the mast. Have you had a sailmaker/repair expert
  look at it?
