[Rhodes22-list] Swim Ladder and MOB

I put a line on the top of the swim ladder to aid in releasing it if I am
ever MOB with/or without my fly down. Also, when sailing at night, I tow a
lifeline with a float on the end behind the boat to swim to in case I go in
and the boat keeps going.

I agree, climbing in on the swim ladder can be a bit dicey, but adding some
non-skid on the transom helps. We've also used the portable ladders on
previous boats but one big advantage to the R22's ladder is that it's always
there in case of MOB. If you're single-handing and go overboard AND lucky
enough to have your boat not sail away, you could easily board.

BTW, single-handers that have been recovered drown are 50% found to have
their fly open. Guess what they were doing when they fell off? (Note to
the wise.)
