Bill D and Dave L:

Lake Thurmond used to be off my Radar. Then last year I attended a seminar
about Islam at Hickory Knob State Park. Hickory Knob State Park is
physically adjacent to Savannah Lakes. I mentioned my visit to someone who
the volunteer they had been an invited guest to Savannah Lakes as someone
who could afford the lots and build an appropriate house. This fellow took
their tour, but is not the kind who buys a second or retirement home. He
said their presentation was good and the golf course fine, but the location
was out of the way for him.

The problems with the lake are two highway and one railroad bridge. I tried
to get the water clearance several years ago, but could not get an answer
from the Corp of Engineers. However, the lake is still quite undeveloped
and quite pristine. I did casually look around for a lake front lot. They
can be had. However, it is not convenient for me at this time.

In summary, it is a pretty lake. It is a big lake. However, the bridges
might restrict a sailboat to its home section. I do not know the correct
answer to that question. Savannah Lakes is a reputable development.
