Slim,

I've found that I often have to luff or almost luff in order to get my hands
on the in-haul/out-haul lines on the boom. You've gotta get the boom within
arms reach (within the cockpit) and the sail sufficiently de-powered that
you can muscle the lines. If the in-haul/out-haul lines on the boom were led
back to the cockpit from the mast, it might be possible to just release the
main sail sheet, de-power the sail, haul the sail in or out as appropriate,
take up the slack, and you’re back in business - the process Hank outlined
but with an IMF - without changing course.

It might be nice if the IMF in-haul/out-haul lines that are run inside the
boom were instead led back to the cockpit from the mast. Has anybody done
that?

Dave
