Wally,
The shapes vary, but not difficult.  Straight cuts work fine.  I can't see why padding is necessary.  I'll measure the lengths when they are finished and you can just draw the dimensions on the wood and cut.  I primed white wood, not sure if I need to be concerned about warp.  I'm sleeping in cockpit comfort this Spring, Summer and Fall.  Tough!
