[Rhodes22-list] IMF Battens

Wally,
Now that's a damn good idea! A batten pocket, opening at the bottom, would use only a little space in the mast cavity if the batten is taken out. If the location was 50% back along the foot it would be very similar to vertical batten placement on some of the much larger boats. A pocket could be stitched into an existing sail, and a length of batten should be available on the net. I'm not sure if I would do it unless into serious racing, though. Consider that the Genny is the power driver, and the main is more for balance. I and other boat skippers (who are not endowed with an IMF) won't hesitate to sail under headsail alone. That's feasible with a 150%, and even nicer with a 175. I am told the destination is the boat, not the far shore...
Chow,
Art
