Bill:
It would benefit you and everyone who you associate with if you took
several elementary courses in economics, business organizations and
political science.

A mutual company be it insurance, power, or whatever is owned by the
members. That means that the equity is owned by the members as if they were
stockholders. It is essentially owned by individuals, people directly.

A socialist organization is a governmental or political entity which usurps
the ownership or equity. Wherein, those espousing medical insurance for all
controlled by the government are taking a socialist stance. Socialism is
essentially a bureaucratic control rather than a direct people control.
Socialism says that the people own something collectively, but that
ownership is controlled by the government thru a bureaucracy.

A mutually owned company competes with privately owned entities in a market
place. Whereas, a socialist organization seeks to control the market.

Addendum:
“Freedom is not merely the opportunity to do as one pleases; neither is it
merely the opportunity to choose between set alternatives. Freedom is, first
of all, the chance to formulate the available choices, to argue over them --
and then, the opportunity to choose.” C. Wright Mills
