Hi Ed:

I'm not sure what you mean by slick, but I still need to
wait until school vacation in Montgomery County, MD before
I travel South, be that NC, SC, GA, or FL :-)

As for the having what it takes to sail with Captain Rummy,
I'm sure we can find his favorite beverage on the way
there. Hell, we'll even bring it gift wrapped!

As for Winter sailing we've been on the Chesapeake in
November, through February (when the air temps > 50, so
it's only a few times) on a J80, with 20+ kt winds - nice
fast ride - but you still get too wet with all that spray
and splash. Paula has buried the rail on an Irwin 37, and
likes a little speed. She's also been at the helm on an
O'Day 28 with 8 -> 9 ft swells, and rain (though she was a
little concerned). What she doesn't like is something like
the Flying Scott, and the way it's a hassle in any heavy
air, and the J80 without back supports, is always wet! On
the other end, some of the cruising boats we've rented have
been a little sluggish getting through a tack and didn't
point well.

So after hearing all these wonderful things about the
Rhodes22 we'd like to check it out. But first, I just had
to have a little fun with Rummy's "uncontrolled" comment
(BTW, the first negative I've heard on this list). Our
criteria for a boat is to have fun, relax, but be able to
get where we're going before we need to get back to work.

Yes, I understand the most dangerous thing on a sail boat
is a schedule, but one still wants the confidence to get
home or out of harms way if necessary.

This message is pretty boring, so I assume it should be
classified as not slick :-)

take care, and happy WEEKEND!!!!
