[Rhodes22-list] Bill's Bahamas Adventure -- Day 8

Bill,

Another edge-sitting chapter...I hope there are many
more to come. Your photographs and your narrative put
the reader right there in that boat with you.

Some of the comments you made brought to mind some
pictures I had taken at Morgan's Bluff and other
places near where you landed. I hope you don't mind my
piggybacking on your travelogue to add some info about
those things.

The first picture is standing on Morgan's Bluff facing
SE near the marina at which you bought fuel. You can
see how rocky & forbidding it is..probably lending to
Henry Morgan's reputation...

The second picture is facing NNE, standing part way
down the rocky bluff. The camera tends to compress
distance; it is really high & really rocky. (Not a
good idea to climb down in flipflops.;^)

The third picture is the sign to Henry Morgan's
Cave...yea..a tourist trap on Andros. 

The fourth picture is what is purported to be HM's
cave...it comes out a ways back..not frightening or
anything. 

The water trench shows how the 'sweet' water is
collected on Northern Andros...they just dig the
trenches & after the water collects it is pumped and
sent to off. Andros is the only island with 'sweet'
water; they have several transport ships daily that
ferry water to Paradise Is (Nassau) daily.

Which segues into the next picture: this is one of the
daily water boats leaving the area of Morgan's Bluff
bound for Nassau.

The last two pictures were taken at Nicholl's Town
located just below Morgan's Bluff. Ther were having an
arts festival that day, with music, dancing, food. I
actually picked up several interesting pieces. 

The only resort areas are a new one in So. Andros that
I am not familiar with, the dive station at the
entrance to Fresh Creek (or Coakeley Town) , and the
Resort in Fresh Creek which I mentioned before & now
can't remember the name (brain leak.) When I was there
last, there were several other elaborate 'resorts'
with no 'guests;' the word at the time was that
building these 'resorts' was a way to hide drug money.
Who knows..
