[Rhodes22-list] Why is it... (political)

Why is it I have this image of several cars of fanatic islamists pulling up
to General Boats with AK 47s shooting in the air and there is Stan in his
office with Rose next to him. Stan grabs his Springfield and Rose hands him
a bullet.

Al Qaeda and other Islamic radicals are not identified with any one country,
but rather with a general geographical area from Morocco to Indonesia. It
is they operate where ever they have the opportunity.

Why is this our fight? Why not the United Nations, Nato or some other
umbrella organization? Are any of the other organizations willing to fight
and repel these fanatics?

I repeat my oft quoted parody:

In Germany they first came for the Communists
    and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
    and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists
     and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
 Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

--The Reverend Martin Niemöller, a pastor in the German Confessing Church
who spent seven years in a concentration camp.

The answer to Wally’s question is because we are the last ones who
understand the threat and have the capacity to stand.

How easy it is to forget that Al Qaeda attacked us twice already. And if
you read the press releases, there have been other attempts stopped. Our
fight is with Al Qaeda where ever they will fight.

Too put our head in the sand is not the best answer, contrary to Wally's,
Rummy's, and others opinions. I am sorry, I have read and studied history.
Freedom is not free, and there are many who want to take it away from me.
That includes the antiwar crowd and the socialists.
