Dave,

Sorry bud, my response had to do with wether or not Iraq was "better off", thus the talk of the rapes murders, etc.

Please, if you want to debate, let's stick to one issue at a time.

If you want to debate our reasons for going to war, it's really a pretty simple discussion. They were outlined in the resolution that authorized the war, which Democrats as well as Republicans signed. I should mention, those who signed it felt that our national interests were at stake.

Herb,

We fought in WWII because our territorial sovereignty was violated, that was
the "just cause". Our nation had been attacked and was tangibly physically
at risk. Our vital interests were clearly defined and at risk. We did not
fight WWII because we were upset about murder, rape, torture, genocide, etc in
other countries. We understood OUR VITAL NATIONAL INTERESTS (aka OUR
territorial sovereignty and OUR national government).

The concern about the levels of murder, rape and torture going on in Iraq
before the war vice now is interesting. I think this is classic liberal
air-head thinking, and absolutely characteristic of everyone who calls themselves a
neo-conservative. From my perspective there is no operational distinction
between liberal air-heads and neocons when it comes to fiscal or foreign
policy. Seems to me any reasonable person would understand immediately that any
war in Iraq should have been about OUR VITAL NATIONAL INTERESTS, not concerns
related to domestic, murder, rape, and torture in Iraq by Iraqis. Seems to
me that no reasonable person would tolerate a single American life lost
"improving the life" of any Iraqi - Axiom: it's up to the Iraqis to take care of
the Iraqis. There are OUR(US) problems and there were THEIR (Iraqi)
problems, and we should have been smart enough to know the difference - unless you're
a neocon. Now their problems are our problems - hint: that's not progress
from the perspective of OUR NATIONAL INTERESTS, it means we have more
problems.

OUR VITAL NATIONAL INTERESTS - that's what it has to be about. That's what
WWII was about. That's not what Iraq is about.

My bet is the America electorate has figured out all of the above.

Dave
