[Rhodes22-list] List etiquette

This email I sent seems to be riddled with question marks (at least in the copy that arrived in my inbox) ... I don't know where those came from, but rest assured, I was not questioning anything I wrote!

I've been somewhat quiet of late due to a move to a new house, a new baby who's
already turned one year old, and work ... but I regularly check up on my R22
email in the email account that I've dedicated to this group.? It's not unusual
for this particular email account to have over 300 messages to wade through ...
and I use my delete key liberally, since I get more than my share of politics in
my day job.?

But I have to tell you, I wouldn't change a thing about this list.? If the
politics, jokes and general day-to-day gossip keep people like Stan, Rummy,
Slim, and many other old hands around, I say "great" and "have at it."? There's
something reassuring about knowing that the old salts are always hanging around
the room, looking for a laugh and ready to debate, discuss and hash things
over.? It's like a constant murmer around a warm fire.? We even have our own
neighborhood curmudgeon (and you all know who that is).??This list?truly is a
neighborhood bar ... and I can tell you this -- I wouldn't want to go to a bar
where they only talked about one thing and random discourse was discouraged.? I
have a strong feeling the place would empty out in no time.

And Rummy's right -- I've been on this list for about a year and a half and this
does come up about every six months.? This is the third or fourth go-around for
me ... and the complaining emails really do become a little repetitive.

Those in the etiquette police who don't like the bar are free to go open their
own, I suppose ... but I'll bet you'd be back in here in no time flat.? After
all, anyplace that Stan hangs out is where I want to be ... and I'll bet most of
you feel the same way.? It's not lost on me that Stan is often the most incisive
and witty contributor to the political discussions, so it appears that not only
is the R-22 a reflection of the man, but so is this list.

I am grateful that he referred me to it on the day I met him.

All the best,?

Ed,
Art and others can do whatever they want, we all know who controls the
list.....the members. We set the rules a long time ago based on what WE wanted.

Like Brad said......read the subject line and delete what you don't want to
read.
