I meant to say retracted, not deployed.  When the sail is in the mast, there is no need for more than a couple of turns on the IMF pole and you will have pulled most of the wrapped turns toward the stern in order to twist the tube and pull the sail into the mast.  

It sounds like the blue line is short.  If some of the sail is still exposed (out of the mast) when the blue line is at the bitter end,  there should be many turns of black line still wrapped around the IMF pole.  It shouldn't be a problem replacing the blue line with one of adequate length.
