I have devised a tether & harness system to keep Timi
somewhat confined when I take her with me.(I haven't
done so yet...getting her onboard will require some
doing.) I'll attach the tethers to the handles on
either side of the bulkhead giving her movement as far
as the cockpit seat on each side.

She doesn't like to swim (!) so she may not mind being
confined in the cockpit. She does whine & pace the
dock if I'm messing around on the boat & she's on the
dock....so I'll soon be putting her aboard with me
while I work.

In our family the appendages (kids) always had to earn
privileges; Timi is earning her boating privileges by
assisting on the dock when company floats in. 

Here she is holding the boat off the dock until lines
are secured.

Catching lines, taking them to the pilings & tying up
the boat are her next lessons...;^)

Something to consider also is a PFD (pooch flotation
device). Dogs get tired & once unable to keep their
heads above water they drown. Timi visited West Marine
& tried on several PFD's...none of which I felt were
suitable...and doing some research online confirmed
that pooch devised are too hot and do not support the
amimal's head.

What works really well is the orange CG approved PFD
slightly adapted for the animal. I will take a pix to
show how it is adapted for a dog.

Time likes hers & has to show the neighbors whenever I
put it on her ( to get her used to it.) Works great on
land....;^)
