It's called a "lipstick camera" because it's about the size and shape of a lipstick tube.  It's what David Letterman uses when he does that "Monkeycam" routine with a live monkey wearing a camera on it's head.  They can be set up to transmit a wireless signal.

Slim,

Could the camera be attached to the string?  I've never seen one.  Do they
look like lipstick tubes?
