This is for Peter and Wally:

Now is the season for getting all the 2007 catalogs in the mail.  The 2007
'The Sail Warehouse' catalog on page 25 has the following about genoas:

"Excessively large genoas will choke the main by closing the 'slot' which
makes it less efficient when going to windward (so bigger isn't necessarily
better.)"

For anyone not getting this publication, it has very good picture diagrams
of all details of sail construction.
