[Rhodes22-list] Downhaul rigging revisited

A while back I posted a question about the downhaul which resulted in a
discussion about a turning bar which had been installed incorectly on some
boats.
I have included a few pictures of the downhaul rigging. The
rudder pinches the downhaul between the rudder and the back of the rudder
housing.. Is this how it is supposed to be ? In the second picture I show
how the turning bar would be installed.. I find that without the turning bar
installed I will be pinching the downhaul at the SIDE of the rudder and
jamming the whole works.. Wouldnt it make more sense to but some guides on
the forward part of the rudder assembly and run the line down and outside
so the rudder never pinches the line ?
