Mike,
The NJ offshoot of Rhodies is alive and well with over a dozen active
members in the lower Barnegat Bay. Many of us sail regularly,
including weekdays and weekends, often sharing our sailing time time
with other members. Sometimes we get guest appearances-Bill Effros is
again joining us for a 6 year tradition on Father's Day weekend. We
also get many newbies- John Taaffe met Rob Baldi and I at the end of
a trip up the Tuckerton Creek, never knew the R22, became intrigued,
and now is expecting delivery on a recycled Rhodes in June. The boats
represented include several recycled, recently updated, and one of
the most extravagant R22's made- the Michael Meltzer special, which
is now for sale. You'll have access to all of them, should you want
to see the differences.

You're close, so time on the water is a given, just pick your time.
Aside from saving 10 hours traveling to Rummy, no plying the captain
with bottles of rum is needed. I'm full time on LBI (Ship Bottom),
and now slipping "s/v Wanderlust" 20 minutes from Little Egg Inlet to
the ocean, so bay or ocean, it's your choice. Contact me by cell
(201-803-5665).

Jay - Don't forget the South Jersey contingent. We are in Avalon and I have
run into a Rhodie out of Stone Harbor (we were going in opposite directions
across the Great Sound area and as he got closer, I had this feeling that I
was sailing toward a mirror, as we both have blue hulls and were both on beam
reaches with genoas fully unfurled). I have also crossed paths in the Sea
Isle area with a white-hulled Rhodes. Now the Stones have purchased a R22 from
Stan and will be sailing out of the Ocean City / Somers Point area. We may
be less common south of Barnegat Bay, but we're often complimented as the
prettyiest sailboats around (of course, in all modesty, about 98% of the boats
in Avalon are powerboats, so it's not too hard to be considered a pretty
sailboat). BTW, I still want to sail up to your Bay someday !
