Ron S, & Jay B:

Jay said, “In the upper right corner of the forum is a search window. Type
in what you want to find & hit go. Use quotes to find a phrase. That's the
simple way.”

Window of forum? Are you talking about the search window in upper right
corner that is part of windows explorer and outlook? If yes, it is set to
Google unless you manually change it to another search engine. Google pays
Microsoft to have their engine put there. Google has gotten so big because
it analyzes your searches and sells that information with your email
address.

I prefer to use Ask as my search engine because they claim to not sell email
addresses, not that I completely accept that, but give the small engine some
business to keep the competition alive. See my email post to this forum on
this subject:

Michael T.,

You posted some significant price differences between Stan and North.
Michael T. said, “Basically, you get what you pay for. The distinction from
NS: their sails apparently have more panels than CD and they will design in
the UV protection. Price diff: NS is approx $1500 CD about $800-900. Same
materials-4800 Series which has a 5 oz weight.”

Stan does not pay the light bill with the few dollars he makes on selling
sails. He gets a special OEM discount so the sails he sells should not be
significantly different in price if you are comparing apples with apples. I
have said this before and your North Loft has told you that you get what you
pay for. I know that Stan has been making this boat for 40 years and knows
the correct sizes without needing the old sails. He also has made
significant changes to the design, and those changes are his, proprietary
and will only come from him. He currently uses Doyle not because they are
the best in world but because they make the sails the way he wants the sails
made. That is no small or inconsequential consideration.

I am very aware of North Sails and its president, Tom Whidden. Both Tom and
the company are the best. However, you are not getting sails to win the
America’s Cup. Stan has a few years on Tom on sails for the Rhodes 22.
Seriously weigh that. Then understand Stan’s personal reputation and
integrity. Understand that Stan is not trying to make a million dollars but
gets his satisfaction in making Rhodies happy sailors.

Addendum: “Sailors, there is a reason it is called a boom. When you hear
the boom and go overboard you may not be conscious. Will you have on a
working PFD (personal floatation device)? Paraphrased from Harmon Heed
