one memory deserves another. i was fishing a lake in westchester county, i want to say in brewster but maybe katonah, that the state was draining to get rid of the carp. so all the fish left in the lake were reduced down to the original stream bed. like battleship row. a fish on every cast.

That reminds of a time when I was a kid growing up in upstate NY. I
lived about 5 miles from one of the reservoirs that supplied NYC
drinking water. Each year it filled with water over the winter from
snow melt. Then, all summer long, it was gradually drawn down to
supply NYC water. They'd draw it down 20-30 feet (sometimes more) every year.

Each fall, my brothers and I would ride our bikes up to the reservoir
and hike along the dry bottom near what used to be shore. All the
fishing lures we wanted were hanging like ornaments off the dead
branches of previously-submerged trees & shrubs. We never had to buy
our terminal tackle. It was ready and waiting each year, like clockwork.

Thanks for the flashback JB :-)

Cheers!
