[Rhodes22-list] Annapolis - for a good time - call a bunch of Rhodies

Or how a lunch for 6 turned into a lunch for 12. Or how some things 
just work out.

Had a great time at the boat show. Note it's "the boat show" - I'm 
sure some of the others are good but Annapolis Sailboat Show is "the 
boat show". At dinner we sat near a couple of tables of vendors and 
heard a vendor from San Diego telling someone at another table that 
he's been to shows all over the country and there is nothing like 
Annapolis for size and variety. So if you haven't ever been, you 
might want to think about it.

It was going to be lunch for 6 but then Art finally got my message 
and it was 7 and then we ran into Don and Jeannie Clarke and Jim 
Harrison at the Rhodes 22 in the show and found that a last minute 
cancelling of somebody's meeting had allowed them to come on Friday 
and they introduced us to Bob & Shel (sorry not sure of the spelling) 
Ginsberg and behold we had 12 for lunch. Didn't seem possible but I 
went over to Pussers a bit before noon to talk to them about it and 
they said "we've got a big table we're using for cruise ship style 
seating. If we fill it up now, it will be emptying out by 1." They 
were good to their word and when we sat down there were 12 of us at 
the one table - amazing!

It was great time but a noisy room. We talked about boom rooms, small 
improvements, outboards, sails, future get-togethers and lots more 
that I didn't hear. I had never met Alice Weisz and Jim, Lee Kuhn and 
his sailing buddy Tom or the Ginsbergs. Alice got a couple of 
pictures on her cell phone so we'll see if they turn out.

The moral of the story is don't pass up a chance to get to one of these things.

BTW planning continues for an off season get-together - maybe in the 
Annapolis-Kent Island area. We're thinking Sunday brunch maybe early 
December or sometime in January.  We WILL use this get-together to 
start planning a 2008 Chesapeake Rhodies gathering so start thinking 
about where and when that could happen.
