Once again you failed to provide all the information. A problem with the  
furler is something that needs to be repaired. If trailering is causing a bend  
in the furling tube, you need to change your method of transporting it. Think  
about adding a stick in the end of the mast that will extend out far enough to 
 support the furling tube. Any bends in either the tube or the plates need to 
be  straightened out for it to work properly. If your front stay is not tight 
 enough, it can cause the furler to wobble. You can usually correct this 
problem  by adding more pressure on the rear stays. This system has been in use 
for more  than 20 years and is bullet proof. Any problems are either related to 
operator  error or as in your case, damaged goods. I would suggest repairing 
anything  broken or bent parts so you can get the full use out of the hardware 
as per it's  design.
