Hello Lee,
Was there a specific reference somewhere in the ultimate cheapskate to 
docking lines?  Far as that goes, I could
re-use some old 3 strand cotton rope I've got hanging around and just 
tie loops in the end real quick.
My  daddy taught me to re-use and recycle. 
As an aside, anybody who works for a nonprofit for 24 years must be a 
bit loony.  I've been on the board
of 3 local ones in the last few years.  I've sworn off 'em forever.
