Chet said, “lighten up on a newbie, eh?;-)”

What is that old saying about give a man a fish, you feed him for a day,
teach him to fish and you feed him for life…

If we gave you the quick answer, how long would you remember it? Several
list members have pointed out that they do not have the hoist system. One
even has the IMF and defends not having one. Others have given you good
reason to bite the bullet and have it. As I said previously, how much is
your personal safety worth? And as pointed out by some, it offers greater
utility for using a Rhodes 22.

You said that you searched the archives? What computer operating system do
you use? Does it allow for favorites? Or keep a memory of web sites for
fast access? Have you diligently saved the tools given you in the various
posts so as to find answers to issues quickly?

Michael W.’s post gives more specific tools. Do you read other seemingly
non related post on the list? For example, you want detailed instructions.
If you read a post,
http://www.rhodes22.org/pipermail/rhodes22-list/2008-April/050064.html,
you just might begin to get the idea that all the details are just not
written yet. Stan does not have a staff devoted to writing step by step
instructions. However, some instructions have been written and posted over
the years by Rhodies. Then those instructions have been embellished by
other Rhodies. An illustration is that somewhere in the archives, Captain
Alm has written an excellent set of instructions for raising and lowering
the mast. It was followed by detailed comments on different steps or
various equipment by others.

Various equipment? What? Stan’s mast raising systems are a work in
progress. Just like the Rhodes 22, the boat. He has used many variations
of raising the mast. The instructions for different systems just might be
different? Did you notice his latest version? Electric? Does it rise out
of the foredeck like a periscope? Does it have a robotic arm that grabs the
mast and sets it upright? Did you see the pictures?

The new guy Mike C is going to try to write a history. The question is can
he write fast enough to keep up with Stan?
