Ed,

JB may have the solution for cutting the inspection plate but removing the
duct is not an option (or at least not a cheap and easy solution).  It needs
to be done in situ.  Beechcraft builds some wonderful airplanes but near the
end of WW2 when they designed mine, the attitude was it only needs to last
five years and we'll sell them a new one.  They were built like tanks (hence
it lasted 60 years) and the design is still being produced, basically
unchanged, but for the fact that things are now designed to be worked on as
opposed to mine which has a number of items that were installed at the
factory and supposedly never revisited. If I had to remove the duct to make
the repair it would be cheaper to part it out on eBay and go buy a whole new
airplane.
