[Rhodes22-list] cutting down sails?

A colleague of mine who used to own a 34' sailboat has offered me a set of
very light wind sails he still has. He said the sails worked well on his
boat in the 2 - 6 knot wind speed range. My question is whether anyone has
any experience having sails from a bigger boat cut down to fit their Rhodes?
Was it a cost effective thing to do? The sails are free in this case. I'm
thinking the headsail may be the most useful since I could switch on the fly
if need be; our boat has the CDI furler and it doesn't look too difficult to
change sails. I'm not sure about switching out the mainsail, but may have
the light wind mainsail cut down to fit anyway if the cost isn't excessive.
