[Rhodes22-list] Slim....more details

We launched Fandango today. It took us several hours to get it all rigged
up and right but she's wet and happy. We decided to leave the bent stern
rail on for now to help with the integrity of the mast crutch as well as the
swim ladder. We repaired not one but both forward lower chain plates. Tim
talked directly to General Boats and took Stan's advice on how to do it.
And talk about your mast-raising system--They took a cherry picker with a
crane on it and just tied a line around the mast just below the spreaders
and hoisted it up as the mast went vertical and eased it down right in place
at the tabernacle. Then he just held it there until we connected all the
stays. Can I have one of those? Then he launched it with a bobcat
perfectly without using the tongue extension. Can I have one of those too?
Boat yards! It's like having roadies for your band. They do everything
faster.

I think I'm going to like my new CDI Flex Furler. We didn't have time to
take the boat out for a sail but we did take it through a few paces and it
seems to work great. I suppose now I'll go shopping for another jib since
they're so easy to change on the CDI.

They offered me a slip there at the yacht club for free for a couple weeks
so I took them up on it and plan to explore that side of Lake Minnetonka
which is beyond a low bridge for us on our side of the lake.

Now if we could only get the time and good weather to sail the tail end of
the season. Hope so!

Slim
