I wouldn't call it "steep" though it's not real shallow. I think the 
geometry changes using the extension and you need to get the boat 
further down the ramp when you use it. Without the extension the 
angle of the trailer is different and you can launch sooner. Still 
might not work for you - there are a lot of variables however we've 
not used the extension on a couple of different ramps.
