Folks;

With respect to Arthur's "point of order" I think the problem may be that
those of us who choose to mostly post through the Nabble site (it's easier
to post pics and pieces from other works) get put into a que or thread and
once the original subject line is set it doesn't matter if folks change it
along the way; it all stays together. The Rhodes22.org site doesn't do that
so subject lines can get all screwed up. I'll try to remember that as it is
annoying for people who don't want to be subjected to the political stuff .

Brad, it isn't that I don't take your point about the actual dates various
conflicts began and ended; in fact I agree with you, especially about the
sorry state of the education of our "yoots", as we say in Joisey. But by your
definition WWII is still going on (we're still in Germany and Japan). I
think you know that for all practical and "public opinion" purposes the Iraq
War that Americans care about started when we started bombing leading up to
the invasion after 9/11 and continues as long as we take casualties in any
significant numbers. If we apply that same standard to WWII that conflict
did begin at Pearl Harbor and end with The Nagasaki blast. (By the way I
have stood under the air space where that bomb burst at the site where it
was said nothing would ever grow again, and the park there is spectacular).

This is probably way too much about way too obscure a point but the Iraq war
has dragged on way longer than necessary (I would have left town the day
after the last to die of Uday, Qusay and Saddam bit the dust), and a damned
site longer than any reasonable comparable period for WWII.
