Chris C:

I have looked at the web site that you posted. Thank you. This web site is
a very good story on how to build sailboats. If you ever see it published
as a booklet, I want a copy.

In my opinion he makes boats very conventionally. When the boat is new it
will be great boat. However, with end core balsa any penetration of the
deck leads to soggy destruction of the supporting structure. There are now
marine foams used in boat making to ameliorate that issue.

In the history of Montgomery Boats, I recall issues about bankruptcy of a
predecessor company. The names of both Jerry Montgomery and Eck were
involved. Hopefully they learned what not to do when they go bankrupt. That
story was around about 7-8 years ago, but you find no trace of it today.

The difference in construction between the current Rhodes 22 and that boat
has several significant differences. The old saying that you cannot teach
old dog new tricks does not apply to Stan. Stan has adopted many important
differences in making the final product compared with that boat. While that
boat is of traditional ways, Stan innovations are of sailboats of tomorrow.
I and others who have studied the details recognized the differences.

Again, the boat looks good. The price is fair. However, there are
significant differences.
Have you studied the Com Pac line?
