Robert,

One comment on your comments.  You wouldn't need the Tiller to motor
link to keep a course under power.  The auto pilot shouldn't care
whether power is coming from the sails or the motor.  If the motor is
locked to provide straight thrust, the tiller should be able to handle
the course corrections.
