[Rhodes22-list] SS: Time for a political Hail Mary

If I had Rhodie Mark Putman's and Hillary's ear I would tell them that her first words at the start of the upcoming debate should be something along these lines:

"My candidacy in the 2008 election was based on my overwhelming longing to see that voters have a real choice between what we have had for the past 7 years and what could be in the next 8 years.

There is practically no difference between "the where" and "the how" either Barack or I want to take this nation. In fact, it is because our goals are so similar that we have such difficulty trying to show you why you should vote for one or the other of us.

Therefore I want to announce that in the interest of what is best for the Democratic Party and, what I feel is in the best interest of the United States of America, that if by any chance I should be your nominee, I will ask Barack Obama to be my vice president.

AND, if Barack wins the nomination, and asks me, I will proudly be his vice presidential running mate.

I think this debate should now be considered a press conference and we should take your questions. I am going to let Barack do most of the responding since he says it so much better than I do."

My (ss's) rational behind this risky Hail Mary play is that she puts the "what -is-best-for-the country" ahead of her own ambitions and that may just turn into a touchdown. And, in the more likely outcome that it does not, if Obama looses the eleciton to McCain, then Hillary (a la Nixon and Regan) has a good opportunity 4 years hence. And, if Obama does become president for one or two terems, then, as vice president, the democratic Party (a la Gore) would have great difficulty not handing her the mantle.

Should the Hail Mary work, then Barack's future could follow the same scenario as above imagined for Hillary.

PS: All bets are off if it turns out that McCain really was fooling around with a jewish lobbyist. I will switch my vote to such a liberal McCain in a heartbeat. History has proven that to be a really good president you have to be a philanderer: FDR, Johnson, Ike, Kennedy, Bill - it's one of the reasons I was considering running.
